Three crude bombs exploded at separate locations in Gaibandha’s Sundarganj upazila early Sunday, triggering panic among local residents.
The explosions occurred within four to five minutes around 4:30 AM in Gopalcharan area of Sundarganj upazila headquarters, said Sundarganj Police Station OC Shahin Mohammad Amanullah.
The first explosion took place near the house of Abu Solaiman Sarkar Saja, an assistant professor at Sundarganj DW Government College. About two minutes later, another crude bomb exploded in front of Gopalcharan High School, followed by a third explosion on a road south of the school.
Locals rushed out of their homes after hearing the loud blasts. However, no casualties or major damage were reported.
Police later recovered remnants of the explosives from the sites.
The OC said the identities of those behind the explosions have not yet been established and an investigation is underway.
