Constitutional amendment committee holds second meeting

The special parliamentary committee on constitutional amendments held its second meeting on Sunday, with Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP and several other parties not attending.

The meeting began at 2:30 PM at the Cabinet Room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, chaired by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.

Representatives of 26 political parties and alliances that signed the July National Charter were invited to the meeting.

Representatives of BNP, Gono Odhikar Parishad, Nagorik Oikya, NDM, Amjanatar Dal, Islami Oikya Jote, Bhashani Jonoshokti Party, Jatiyatabadi Sammanna Jote, Jamiat Ulamaye Islam, Gono Forum and Ganosamhati Andolon attended the meeting.

The committee held its first meeting on August 4. It had decided to hold discussions with political parties, constitutional experts, lawyers, media editors and other stakeholders.
