403 arrested in 24-hr DMP drive

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 403 people and filed 47 cases during its regular anti-crime operations across the capital over the past 24 hours.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehedi confirmed the information on Monday (September 21).

According to the DMP, 18 people were arrested in Ramna division, 28 in Lalbagh, 53 in Wari, 36 in Motijheel, 86 in Tejgaon, 97 in Mirpur, 42 in Gulshan, 41 in Uttara and two by the Detective Branch.

During the operations, police recovered two unexploded cocktails, fragments of exploded cocktails, 1,376 yaba tablets, 340 grams of cannabis, two mobile phones, two motorcycles and Tk 3,800 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

The operations were conducted in different police station areas across the capital, resulting in the arrests and recovery of the evidence and narcotics.

Further legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway.
