12 more die of measles, dengue

Twelve more people died of measles-related symptoms and dengue across the country in the 24 hours from 8am Sunday to 8am Monday.

During the same period, 1,305 people were newly diagnosed with suspected or confirmed measles. In addition, 1,655 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the information in separate press releases issued by its control room on Monday.

According to the measles-related release, six people died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. From March 15 to September 21, a total of 962 people have died with measles symptoms.

No one died from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours. However, 101 people have died from confirmed measles between March 15 and the morning of September 21.

A total of 1,221 people were identified with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of people identified with measles symptoms between March 15 and the morning of September 21 to 181,035.

The number of confirmed measles cases in the past 24 hours was 84, while the total number of confirmed cases during the period stood at 20,646.

From March 15 to September 21, a total of 159,804 people with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals. Of them, 153,448 recovered and were discharged.

According to the DGHS dengue-related release, six people died of dengue in the past 24 hours. All of the deceased were reported in Rajshahi division. The number of dengue deaths this year has now reached 190.
