Mamata demands CEC's arrest, Rahul warns of 'Vote Theft'

Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has demanded the arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing the Election Commission of irregularities in the electoral-roll revision process.
Banerjee also called for fresh elections in West Bengal using the pre-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter list. Her demands came after reports that two Election Commissioners had raised objections to aspects of the SIR exercise.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi separately accused the BJP, RSS and Election Commission of organising what he called “vote chori” and said the alleged manipulation amounted to an attack on India’s Constitution.
The Election Commission, however, rejected suggestions of a breakdown within the three-member panel, saying differences during internal deliberations were part of the normal decision-making process and that final decisions on the SIR had been taken unanimously.
