Saudi's Red Sea Film Festival postponed amid Houti attacks

Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival has postponed its sixth edition, originally scheduled for December in Jeddah, until the fourth quarter of 2027.
The Red Sea Film Foundation said the decision followed a review of the timing and logistical requirements of staging an international festival of such scale. The organisers did not directly cite the regional security situation as the reason for the postponement.
The announcement came amid heightened regional tensions, including missile and drone attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis. However, the foundation has not linked those attacks to its decision.
The festival was scheduled to run from December 3 to 12 this year. Its Red Sea Fund, Red Sea Labs and other year-round programmes will continue, while the festival is expected to return in late 2027 with a renewed programme.
