Iran gives US five-day ultimatum over Strait of Hormuz

Iran has given the United States five days to accept its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important global shipping route, Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei said.

Rezaei said the conditions had been conveyed to Washington during meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. He warned that the strait would remain closed if the US failed to meet the demands.

He also said Tehran would not resume talks with Washington until its conditions were accepted and the US took steps to rebuild Iran’s trust.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major route for global energy and commercial shipping, making its continued closure a significant concern for international trade and energy supplies.
