Obituary

Renowned children’s writer and rhyme-maker Akhtar Hussain, whose lively verses brought generations of children into a world of joy and imagination, died on Thursday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Medical University. He was 81.

University authorities and his two sons, Pantha and Pramit, confirmed his pass away. 
Akhtar Hussain had been battling cancer for a long time. He recently suffered a brain haemorrhage and a sharp fall in blood pressure and was subsequently treated at hospitals in Farmgate, BIRDEM and Green Life before being transferred to the BMU. He had been on life support since last Friday.
