Two Israeli soldiers were killed after a drone operated by their own forces exploded in the northern Gaza Strip, according to the Israeli military.

The incident took place on Thursday (September 24), with the Israeli military officially confirming the deaths on Friday (September 25). The soldiers were identified as Master Sgt (res.) Nadav Kali, 24, and Master Sgt (res.) Ofek Moalem, 23, both serving with the 7007th Battalion of the 16th Brigade.

The incident involved an explosive-laden drone operated by Israeli forces. The circumstances surrounding the blast are being investigated, according to reports.

The deaths add to the Israeli military's reported casualties in the ongoing fighting in Gaza.
