Free eye tests, glasses for 1,000 drivers

Marking World Sight Day 2026, the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) and VisionSpring Bangladesh jointly organised a special vision screening programme for drivers and distributed free eyeglasses at DTCA Bhaban in the capital on Thursday.

The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of clear vision for road safety and contribute to safer journeys for drivers and passengers. Around 200 drivers from different agencies and organisations under the Road Transport and Highways Division participated. Their eyesight was screened, while those requiring vision correction received eyeglasses free of cost. The initiative will gradually be expanded to cover 1,000 drivers.
