Workshop for potters held in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON, Sept 27: A day-long workshop and training session for 30 pottery artisans was held in Thakurgaon on Tuesday to strengthen their skills, promote traditional pottery and improve their livelihoods.

The event, jointly organised by the Bangladesh National Craft Council (NCCB) and the Eco Social Development Organization (ESDO), was held at ESDO’s Lokayan Biodiversity Museum. The participants, from Akcha Palpara Village in Akcha Union, included 23 women and seven men.

NCCB official and resource person Chandra Shekhar Saha and ESDO Founder and Executive Director Dr Md Shahid Uz Zaman inaugurated the programme. Speakers pledged continued support to improve artisans’ skills and living standards.

At the close of the training, participants received certificates recognising their work. NCCB also said it would help the artisans become members of the council and participate in craft exhibitions in Dhaka.
The programme brought together NCCB and ESDO officials, local dignitaries, journalists and members of the pottery community.
