Law Minister seeks stronger global action 

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman has called for stronger international cooperation alongside robust national measures to combat existing and emerging transnational crimes.

He made the call while addressing the high-level segment of the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday.

The congress is being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from September 26 to October 1, with a Bangladesh delegation led by the law minister attending the event.

Asaduzzaman reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to strengthening the rule of law, expanding access to justice, enhancing institutional accountability and modernising the criminal justice system.

He highlighted the country's ongoing judicial reform initiatives under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, saying Bangladesh was committed to addressing both existing and emerging forms of transnational crime through national action and international cooperation.

The minister said Bangladesh had reaffirmed its commitment to reforming the Code of Criminal Procedure in line with the Abu Dhabi Declaration.
