Govt to take action against attacks on Radda Clinic, Salman's studio: Salahuddin

  
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has linked the attack on Salman Muqtadir’s studio to a dispute over 35 kathas of land. Meanwhile, police have detained three people in connection with the vandalism of the studio.
He also warned that “there is no political identity for a criminal” as police pursue cases linked to the studio attack, Radda Clinic vandalism in Mirpur. 

The Home Minister has described the allegation that the BNP activists demanded extortion money from content creator Salman Muqtadir as a “sweeping” accusation, while warning that anyone trying to destabilise law and order will face strict action regardless of political affiliation.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Sunday afternoon.

Regarding the raid on the Jasad central office in Gulistan, the Home Minister said police acted on intelligence report that banned Awami League members had gathered there to plan subversive activities. In this connection, 27 people have been still in police custody for questioning.

On the allegation against the BNP, Salahuddin said people were free to criticise the government as part of democracy and freedom of speech. But he questioned whether Salman had filed a formal case over the allegation.

He said Salman had stated that nobody had actually demanded extortion money from him. "So, since no demand was made, and he says he would have paid if asked, there is no specific person identified," Salahuddin said.

"Yet, he claims the BNP demanded extortion money this is a sweeping allegation. If he files a specific case, we will investigate the matter," he added.

The comments came after an attack and vandalism at Salman Muqtadir's studio in the New Guinea Properties area near the capital's ECB Chattar on Saturday night.
