Adam Idah allegedly subjected to racist abuse by Israel fans

Republic of Ireland striker Adam Idah was allegedly subjected to racist abuse from sections of the Israel support during Sunday's UEFA Nations League match in Debrecen, Hungary.

The incident reportedly occurred during the first half of the match at Nagyerdei Stadium, where some Israeli supporters allegedly directed monkey chants and other offensive noises at Idah. Idah scored Ireland's second goal as his side won the match 3-0. 

Ireland midfielder Jayson Molumby noticed the chants and asked German referee Harm Osmers and fourth official Florian Exner to listen. However, Molumby did not explicitly report the incident as racist, while the match officials said they had not heard any racist chanting themselves. 

As the incident was not formally reported during the match in accordance with UEFA's protocol, UEFA has told the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) that it cannot open an official investigation. 

The FAI, however, is reviewing video footage from the match. If the footage provides evidence of racist abuse, the association said it will submit the evidence to UEFA and seek an investigation. 

The match was played amid heightened tensions surrounding Ireland's fixtures against Israel. Ireland won 3-0 through goals from Troy Parrott, Idah and Jack Moylan. 

The two teams are scheduled to meet again on October 4 in Bačka Topola, Serbia.
