Alcaraz gets marriage proposal after Lever Cup win

Carlos Alcaraz received an unexpected marriage proposal from a spectator after defeating Taylor Fritz at the Laver Cup in London on Sunday.

Playing for Team Europe at the O2 Arena, Alcaraz beat Team World’s Fritz 6-3, 4-6, 13-11 in a three-set match.

After the match, former tennis player Sam Querrey was interviewing Alcaraz when a spectator shouted, “Carlos, marry my sister.”

The 23-year-old Spaniard appeared surprised before replying, “What kind of question is that? I’m not old enough to get married yet.” His response drew laughter from the crowd.

Alcaraz, who recently returned from injury, had earlier lost to Ben Shelton in the US Open quarter-finals. Despite the defeat, he said he continued to enjoy playing and that was why he kept smiling on court.
