India thrashed Bangladesh 10-0 in the Asian Games hockey Pool A match in Kakamigahara, Japan, on Monday (September 28).
Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a hat-trick, while Shilanand Lakra netted twice as India dominated throughout the match despite heavy rain and a waterlogged pitch.
India led 3-0 at half-time before adding seven more goals in the second half. Bangladesh struggled to contain India’s sustained attacks as the defending champions completed their fifth consecutive win.
Bangladesh had earlier beaten Sri Lanka 5-1 and Indonesia 3-1 but lost to South Korea 5-0 and hosts Japan 6-1.
India finished top of Pool A and will face Pakistan in the semi-final on October 1.
