Milon makes surprise midnight visit to textbook press

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon made surprise visits to six printing presses in the capital after midnight on Monday to inspect the quality and progress of textbooks being printed for free distribution in the 2027 academic year.

The minister visited the presses without prior notice and inspected the printing operations, according to the Education Ministry.

The six presses were Mousumi Offset Press, Faiza Printing Press, Shaily Printers, Barnashikha Offset Printers, Sonali Web Printers and National Printers.

During the inspections, Milon checked the quality of paper and ink, printing standards and book binding. He also reviewed the progress of printing and spoke with officials and workers involved in the production.

He instructed the concerned authorities to maintain prescribed quality standards and complete printing on time so students receive quality textbooks at the beginning of the new academic year.

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has undertaken a programme to print 30.92 crore textbooks for the 2027 academic year for students from pre-primary to secondary level, including books for ethnic minority communities and Braille textbooks for visually impaired students.
