HC drops Asif’s writ against ACC 

The High Court on Tuesday dropped from its cause list a writ petition filed by former interim government Adviser and National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan challenging the legality of the Anti-Corruption Commi-ssion (ACC) publicly briefings about him.

The petition challenged the legality of the ACC press briefings in which publicly stating that it had found "initial truth" in corruption and irregularity allegations at the beginning of an investigation.

The HC bench comprising Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty and Justice SK Tahsin Ali passed the order, saying the petition could be heard by a regular bench after the ongoing court vacation as it requires a detailed hearing, said the petitioner's lawyer Zahirul Islam Musa.

The lawyer said he would move the petition before a regular High Court bench after the Supreme Court reopens.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Imam Hossain Tareq opposed the writ, arguing that it was not maintainable as it challenged an ACC press briefing.
