Govt to review global, local markets before fixing edible oil price hike: Minister

Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has said that the government will make a final decision on any increase in edible oil prices only after thoroughly reviewing international market conditions and assessing their actual impact on the domestic market.


On the country’s law-and-order situation, Muktadir said visible improvements were being made and expressed hope that a more stable environment would encourage both domestic and foreign investors to make new investments.

The minister also reiterated instructions for strict monitoring and legal action against teenage gangs to maintain law and order in Sylhet.

He said the administration would take the strictest legal measures to prevent the activities of such groups and maintain peace and security in the city and surrounding areas.
