MPO teachers need no separate notification for new pay scale

MPO-listed teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions will not need a separate notification to be included in the new pay scale, said Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque.

He made the remarks at the closing ceremony of a training programme at the National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Khaleque said the notification already issued for the new pay scale would also apply to MPO-listed teachers and employees. They will receive their salaries and allowances under the same gazette issued for government employees.

The education secretary said the government has also taken steps to resolve complications over retirement benefits for private teachers and employees.

Previously, teachers and employees had to wait for years to receive their retirement benefits, he said, adding that the government has taken initiatives to resolve the problem and beneficiaries have now started receiving the money.

He said the government has also taken an initiative to provide training to 500,000 MPO-listed teachers.

The government will work to meet the legitimate demands of all, Khaleque said, adding that teachers should behave like teachers as they are considered the conscience of society and play a key role in shaping future generations.

He also said arrangements would be made for transfers of teachers of nationalised colleges.

The programme was chaired by NAEM Director General Professor Dr Wasim Md Mezbahul Haque.
