Long-distance buses to move from Sayedabad to Kanchpur soon

Long-distance buses operating from Sayedabad Bus Terminal will soon be shifted to the under-construction Kanchpur terminal to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Md Abdus Salam said on Wednesday.

He made the remarks after inspecting the ongoing construction work at the Kanchpur terminal.

Initially, buses serving 16 districts, including Chattogram, Sylhet, Cumilla and Noakhali, will be moved to Kanchpur using temporary sheds. A shuttle service between Kanchpur and Sayedabad is also planned for passengers.

The terminal is being built at a cost of around Tk 50 crore, with overall work about 30% complete. Authorities aim to complete the initial work and open the terminal by December, weather permitting.

Built on around 12 acres, the terminal will accommodate about 405 buses, with 378 parking spaces, 22 bus bays and facilities including waiting areas, ticket counters and parking for 40 vehicles.
