Tk 5,326cr project for Sylhet division: Commerce Minister

A Tk 5,326 crore development project for Sylhet division will be placed for approval at the next ECNEC meeting, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said on Wednesday (September 30).

He made the remarks while addressing a rally organised by Habiganj district BNP at the Habiganj municipal field in the afternoon.

The minister said work to upgrade the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway to six lanes would be 90 percent complete by December 2028. Land acquisition in areas where work has stalled will be completed within the next month, after which construction work will be accelerated, he said.

He also said a major project had been taken up to repair LGED roads at the upazila level across Sylhet division. He described it as the largest project of its kind in Sylhet since independence.

Muktadir further said laws had been passed in parliament against online gambling and drugs since the BNP government took office. He called for coordinated efforts to tackle drugs, online gambling and juvenile gangs.
