Mutilated body of young man recovered in Daulatpur

Daulatpur police recovered the body of a young man from a field at Kamalpur Taltala on Wednesday, two days after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Md Raja, 27, son of Abdur Razzaq Ali Biswas of Piyarpur village. Farmers who went to the field on Wednesday morning, September 30, to harvest chilli peppers saw jackals dragging a body and informed Daulatpur police.

Police went to the scene but could not identify the body because of its decomposed condition. They later sought assistance from the Jhenaidah CID team, which helped identify the deceased.

Piyarpur Union member Johnny Jowardar said Raja went missing on the evening of September 28, and his father filed a written complaint with Daulatpur Police Station on September 29. The body was recovered two days later. The victim’s family has demanded justice for those involved in the killing.

Delwar Hossain, additional superintendent of police of the Bheramara-Daulatpur Circle, said police immediately went to the field after receiving information about a decomposed body and recovered the remains.

He said the identity of the deceased was confirmed as the missing Raja with the help of the CID team. Police suspect that Raja was abducted and later murdered. The body was recovered on Wednesday afternoon and sent to the Kushtia Medical College morgue for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, local residents have expressed concern over the law and order situation in the area amid reports of theft, robbery and murder. Some concerned citizens and victims alleged that the chain of command within the Daulatpur police force had broken down and called for the transfer of some police personnel.
