Woman found dead in hotel bathroom, child in room

Police recovered the bloodied body of a 25-year-old woman from a hotel bathroom in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday night.

The deceased, Kulsum Akter, was found at Stand Park Resort near the central bus terminal around 8 PM. Police said she appeared to have been killed with a sharp weapon, with an injury to her throat.

Kulsum had come to Cox’s Bazar from Eidgaon to attend a court hearing in a case against her husband over a family dispute. Her two-and-a-half-year-old child was in the room and was later handed over to relatives.

Hotel staff said Kulsum checked into room 302 with a man who introduced himself as her husband. The man later fled the hotel.

Police said the man was not Kulsum’s husband, Md Harun. Two hotel employees have been taken into custody for questioning as police investigate the killing.
