Nobody to be allowed to destabilise country: Sohel Manzur

BHANDARIA, PIROJPUR, Oct 1: State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahmed Sohel Manzur on Wednesday said the government would not allow anyone to destabilise the country or push it towards uncertainty.

“Everyone has their own religion, but the country belongs to all of us. We will not allow the country to be destabilised in any way. We will never let the country head towards uncertainty or hand it over to fascists,” he said.

The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at a prize-giving ceremony of an Islamic cultural competition organised by the Bhandaria Upazila unit of Bangladesh National Imam Association at the Bhandaria Municipality Auditorium on Wednesday night, marking Sirat-un-Nabi (SM).

He alleged that some groups were still spreading misinformation in the name of Islam.

He said the BNP was implementing various programmes to take the country forward, while its opponents were showing a hostile attitude.

The state minister said the country had returned to a democratic process after 20 years and that people had given the government a five-year mandate to run the country.

He said farmers would receive support on easy terms, mothers and sisters would get Family Cards, and allowances would be arranged for imams and muezzins under the current government.

He called for people to unite to resist those who, he alleged, were trying to push the country towards conspiracy and uncertainty.

The programme was presided over by Bangladesh National Imam Association's Bhandaria unit president Md Mahmudul Hasan.
Bhandaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Hasibul Hasan, Officer-in-Charge Dewan Jaglul Hasan, Imam Association Adviser Maulana Abdus Jalil and Zulfikar Haider Howlader, Member Secretary of the Islamic Complex and Tafsir Committee, among others, spoke at the event as special guests.

Among others, Upazila BNP General Secretary Md Monir Hossain Akon, Municipal BNP Convener A Mannan Howlader, Member Secretary Masud Rana Palash, Upazila BNP Organising Secretary Abul Kalam Molad Jomaddar and Upazila Jubo Dal Member Secretary Md Shamim Howlader attended the programme.

Teachers of different madrasas, imams of mosques and students were also present.
