Veteran tax lawyer and writer Kazi Golam Main Uddin of Feni has died at the age of 94.
He passed away at around 10:47 PM on Friday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital due to complications related to old age.
He is survived by three sons, two daughters, two brothers, three sisters, grandchildren and numerous relatives and well-wishers.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held after Fajr prayers on Saturday at Baitus Salah Jame Mosque in H Block of Aftabnagar, Dhaka. A second janaza will be held after Zuhr prayers at Kazi Bari in Mathiara, Feni, followed by his burial at the family graveyard.
Born on December 9, 1932, at Kazi Bari in Mathiara of Feni Sadar, Kazi Golam Main Uddin was the eldest among seven brothers and seven sisters. He passed matriculation from Feni High School in 1950 and later completed I.Com and B.Com from Feni College.
He joined the tax consultancy profession in 1961 alongside his family business and served several times as president and secretary of the Feni District Tax Lawyers Association.
He was also a former general secretary of Lions Club Feni, a founding member of Feni Law College and a lifelong member of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
Known as a poet and writer, he authored several books, including Dakterer Ghorar Dak, Tasher Ghore Madhabilata, Khaju Ukiler Diary and Eureka Amar America.
