One killed in Dhaka-Mawa Expressway accident

A motorcyclist was killed and a bus passenger injured in two separate road crashes at the same spot on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj’s Sreenagar early Tuesday.

The crashes took place within a short interval around 3:15 AM in the Dhaka-bound lane near Sholghar Bhuichitra area.

Fire Service officials said an unidentified vehicle first hit a motorcycle from behind, killing rider Md Aslam Hossain, around 40, on the spot.

Shortly after, the driver of a Liton Travels bus slowed down after seeing the crash. An Abdullah Paribahan bus coming from behind at high speed then lost control and hit the Liton Travels bus, injuring passenger Md Nazrul Islam, 47.

Two Fire Service units recovered Aslam’s body and handed it over to highway police. Nazrul was taken to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex.

Fire Service officials later helped other passengers safely leave the damaged buses.
