Storms accompanied by rain or thundershowers may hit four districts by 6:00 PM on Friday, with wind speeds reaching up to 60 kilometres per hour, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The districts are Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali and Cumilla, where temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, are likely.
The department has advised river ports in these areas to hoist local cautionary signal No. 1.
The forecast was issued for inland river ports until 6:00 PM on Friday, October 9.
Meanwhile, the country continues to experience scattered rainfall as autumn draws to a close. The highest rainfall recorded in the 24 hours to Friday was 63mm in Ishwardi, Pabna.
During the same period, Kumarkhali in Kushtia and Satkhira recorded more than 58mm of rainfall each. Rajshahi received 45mm, Tetulia in Panchagarh 43mm, Rajarhat in Nilphamari and Aricha in Manikganj 26mm each, and Rangpur 25mm.
The meteorological department has forecast rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country over the next five days, with heavy rainfall possible in some areas.
