World Mental Health Day is being observed today, October 10, to raise awareness of mental health issues and promote psychological well-being.
The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasises the importance of mental health as an essential part of overall health. “There is no health without mental health,” a widely used public health statement, highlights the need to give mental well-being the same importance as physical health.
The day aims to reduce stigma surrounding mental health conditions, encourage people to seek professional support when needed and ensure access to appropriate care. It also calls on communities to support people experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties.
