Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operations official Shahriar Nafees said developing successful batters takes longer than finding talented bowlers.

“Bowlers are relatively easy to find, but batting skills are different. A player needs years of scoring runs and development to become a good batter,” he said at a press conference on Saturday.

Nafees said divisional and district coaches had been instructed to monitor shortlisted talents and ensure they get opportunities to play domestic cricket.

The bowling hunt, launched last month across nine venues, has already identified several promising bowlers. Female players have also been included in the programme.
