Workers stage sit-in over unpaid wages in Sreepur

Workers of C Stage (BD) Ltd in Sreepur, Gazipur, staged a sit-in on Saturday over unpaid wages after the factory announced a three-day closure.

The workers stopped production and stayed inside the factory from noon until evening, demanding payment of their September salaries. The situation returned to normal after the authorities assured them that wages would be paid on October 13.

The factory, located near Union Mor at MC Bazar in Mulaid area, announced that all operations would remain closed from October 11 to 13. Workers were instructed to return to work on October 14.

Workers said the unpaid wages had made it difficult to cover household expenses and demanded payment by October 11.

Swapan Kumar, officer-in-charge of the Sreepur sub-zone of Gazipur Industrial Police, said the workers were holding a peaceful sit-in. They left the factory after the authorities promised to pay their wages on October 13.

Attempts to contact the factory authorities for comments went unanswered.
