Mother, daughter killed in autorickshaw crash

A woman and her nine-month-old daughter were killed in a collision between a bus and a autorickshaw in Sylhet.

The accident occurred around 6:45 PM on Saturday (August 10) in the Keorachhara area of Dhopagul in Sylhet Sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Sumaiya Siddika Tania, 20, and her nine-month-old daughter, Inaiya Jannat. They were residents of the Shahporan area of Sylhet city.

Officer-in-Charge of Sylhet Airport Police Station Shahidur Rahman said, "a bus collided with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw, leaving the mother and daughter, who were passengers in the three-wheeler, critically injured."

They were rescued and taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the on duty doctors declared them dead.

The OC added that the bodies had been kept at the hospital morgue and would be handed over to their relatives after the completion of legal procedures.
