Vinicius likely to miss El Clasico

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior is likely to miss the upcoming El Clasico against Barcelona on October 25 after receiving a straight red card for pulling an opponent’s hair during Saturday’s (October 10) 1-0 LaLiga victory over Villarreal.

The Brazilian winger was sent off following a VAR review after pulling Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba’s hair during the build-up to what appeared to be his second goal of the match. The goal was ruled out, and the referee showed him a red card.

According to Spanish media reports, Vinicius could face a suspension of two or more matches because of the incident and his reaction to the dismissal. The final punishment will be determined by the Spanish football authorities’ disciplinary committee.

Real Madrid have an away fixture against Sevilla before facing Barcelona at Camp Nou on October 25. A suspension covering both matches would rule Vinicius out of the high-profile encounter.
