Polish authorities held an emergency meeting on Sunday after police received information about a possible assassination plot targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Interior Ministry spokesperson Karolina Galecka said the meeting was held at the Internal Security Agency’s Counter-Terrorism Center, although details of the alleged threat were not immediately clear.
The alert comes amid three knife attacks at Polish schools in four days, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured. Police have detained 117 people over carrying dangerous weapons or making threats against schools and students.
Tusk said the attacks appeared to be spontaneous incidents influenced by the online glorification of violence, adding that authorities had found no evidence of large-scale coordination.
