Cristiano Ronaldo once dreamed of playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and appearing at the Parc des Princes in front of 50,000 Portuguese supporters, according to former France Football editor Pascal Ferré.
Ferré, who was previously responsible for the Ballon d’Or award, revealed the story in an interview with Eurosport. He said he met Ronaldo at a dinner in 2016, after the Portuguese forward won his fifth Ballon d’Or. Around 15 to 20 France Football staff members were also present.
During the conversation, Ronaldo reportedly said he wanted to wear the PSG jersey one day and play at the Parc des Princes, with 50,000 Portuguese fans welcoming him from the stands.
Ferré said Ronaldo made the remark partly in jest but genuinely wanted to play for the Parisian club. The presence of a large Portuguese community in Paris was also one of the reasons behind his interest, he added.
At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. However, he never joined PSG. He left the Spanish club in 2018 to sign for Juventus, later returned to Manchester United and moved to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in 2023.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has yet to fulfil that reported dream of playing for the French club.
