Two killed, 15 injured in bus-truck collision

Two passengers were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred around 8:30 AM in the Bertala area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

The deceased were identified as Sourav and Asif, both from Parbatipur in Dinajpur. Further details about Asif's identity were not immediately available.

Police and local residents said a Rangpur-bound Diganta Paribahan bus travelling from Rangpur to Sylhet collided head-on with an oncoming truck in Bertala. Several bus passengers sustained serious injuries.

The injured were rescued and taken to hospital. Three of them, whose conditions were critical, were later sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Officer-in-Charge of Khatihata Highway Police Station Abdul Halim said police were sent to the scene immediately after the accident. The damaged vehicles were taken into police custody.
