1,413 RAJUK plots under probe, 1,074 suspended

A total of 1,413 residential plots allocated on political grounds between 2009 and 2024 are under investigation, while activities involving 1,074 plots have been suspended over preliminary evidence of irregularities.

The plots were allocated in Gulshan, Banani, Uttara, Purbachal New Town and Jhilmil residential areas. Purbachal accounted for the highest number, with 944 plots allocated. Of the suspended plots, 874 are in Purbachal and 200 in Jhilmil.

The information was disclosed at the second meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Housing and Public Works at the National Parliament Building on Sunday (October 25). Chaired by Md Rezaul Karim Badsha, the meeting reviewed a report examining whether the allocations violated relevant rules.

The committee said strict legal action would be taken if a thorough investigation confirmed irregularities in the allocations.
