SRB-8 arrests wanted robber Yasin Khan in Pirojpur raid

Special Response Battalion (SRB-8), Barishal arrested Md. Yasin Khan, 45, an inter-district robbery gang leader wanted in 15 criminal cases including a major robbery in Mathbaria, during a late-night drive in Pirojpur.

Yasin Khan, son of the late Hafez Khan (alias Somed Khan), was apprehended late Sunday night (October 26) near the Budaibari Bridge area in Mathbaria Upazila. He is a resident of Ward 2 of Tushkhali Union.

According to the SRB-8 media cell, the arrest stems from a major robbery on August 16, 2023, at around 2:30 AM at the residence of local businessman Shahin Howlader (45) in Jankhali Bazar under Tushkhali Union.

An armed gang of 8 to 9 robbers broke into the house, held family members at gunpoint, tied them up, and physically assaulted them before looting gold ornaments, cash, and smartphones valued at approximately Tk 20.49 lakh.

Shahin Howlader subsequently filed a case with Mathbaria Police Station on August 17, 2023 (Case No. 14).

Based on a formal requisition from the investigating officer and specific intelligence tracking, an operational team from SRB-8 pinpointed Yasin’s location and carried out the arrest.

Sources confirmed that Yasin faces 15 pending criminal cases and multiple arrest warrants across various jurisdictions. He has been handed over to Mathbaria Police Station for further legal proceedings.
