Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday will release in Indian cinemas on December 17, a day before its scheduled US release, the studio announced on Wednesday.
The announcement came through a special Diwali video message featuring Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, who return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers, respectively.
In the video shared by Marvel India, the actors greeted Indian audiences and extended their Diwali wishes while teasing the film’s darker storyline. They said the festival marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, adding that the upcoming chapter might move in the opposite direction from darkness to light.
The film will be released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Its US release remains scheduled for December 18, according to Marvel’s official website.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday brings together superheroes from different corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as they face an existential threat.
Downey Jr, who previously played Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, returns to the franchise as the villainous Doctor Doom. Evans reprises his role as Steve Rogers, the former Captain America.
The ensemble cast also includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Jonathan Schwartz. It is among Marvel Studios’ major theatrical releases scheduled for the end of the year.
No Bangladesh-specific release date has been confirmed in the announcements reviewed.
