A young man was shot and injured in Ashulia's Dhalpur area on Thursday night when assailants opened fire targeting a rival over territorial dominance and prior enmity.
The victim, Saidur Rahman, is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital.
Local sources said a long-standing dispute over local dominance and land exists between Dhalpur residents Roki Dewan and Hafizur Rahman. Following the feud, Hafizur's son Asif and accomplice Kamrul arrived on a motorcycle on Thursday night and fired three rounds at Roki.
One of the bullets struck Roki's friend, Saidur, above his left knee, causing him to collapse. Locals rushed him to the hospital shortly after.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Savar Circle) Md. Rakibul Hasan Ishan stated on Friday that police inspected the scene and recovered three spent bullet casings, adding that operations are ongoing to identify and arrest the attackers.
