Bhansali faces backlash over Gangubai post

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production house has faced social media backlash after promoting Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi shortly after releasing the promotional teaser of Shraddha Kapoor's upcoming film Eetha on Friday.

Bhansali Productions shared a promotional post for Gangubai Kathiawadi on its X account, writing, "The world was writing her story, but Gangubai took the pen into her own hands."

The post triggered criticism from social media users, who questioned the timing of the promotion, suggesting that the production house was attempting to draw attention away from Eetha following the release of its teaser.

Some users described the move as an expression of insecurity, while others criticised the production house for promoting an older film on the same day another actress's film teaser was released.

One user questioned why a production house was engaging in what they described as childish behaviour, while another called the move cheap and poorly timed.

The controversy has also drawn attention to the perceived rivalry between Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor, whose fan bases have frequently engaged in online exchanges.
