Production house Real Energy Production has sent a legal notice to actor Shariful Raj, accusing him of breaching his contract for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha film "Thikana".
The notice was sent on October 28 by Barrister Sajib Mahmud Alam on behalf of the production company. The allegations include Raj's failure to provide shooting dates for the film and announcing another project scheduled for release during the same Eid.
The notice warns that legal action will be taken if the actor fails to confirm his shooting schedule within 48 hours.
According to the notice, Raj signed an Artist Service Agreement with Real Energy Production to act in "Thikana" and participate in its promotional activities, among other commitments. He also received an advance payment as part of the agreement.
Clause 9 of the contract states that the film will be released during or after Eid-ul-Azha 2027.
Clause 4.11 further stipulates that no other project featuring the actor in a leading or significant role can be released during the release period of "Thikana".
On August 31, Raj announced on Facebook that he had acted in a film titled "Kanavula Paradox", which is also scheduled for release during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The notice claims that following the announcement, sponsors and stakeholders associated with "Thikana" began considering withdrawing their involvement.
On September 2, the production company sent an earlier legal notice outlining four demands: stopping the promotion of the competing film, removing the Facebook post, issuing a public apology within 24 hours and providing written assurance that the contract would be honoured.
The latest notice states that Raj and his manager subsequently contacted the production company directly and promised to resolve the matter through negotiations. However, the actor has yet to provide a shooting schedule.
The production house has requested Raj's availability for filming between February 1 and March 10, 2027. According to the notice, two months will be required for post-production to ensure the film is ready for an Eid-ul-Azha release.
Several attempts were made to contact Shariful Raj for his comment, but his phone was found switched off.
