President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has described skilled, organised and committed young people as the country's most valuable asset, stressing the need for quality education, technological skills and sustainable employment.

In a message on Saturday marking National Youth Day 2026, to be observed on November 1, he said young people were the driving force of national development.

He said the youth had played leading roles in major democratic movements, including the Language Movement, Liberation War, the 1990s mass uprising and the 2024 student-people uprising.

The President said turning young people into skilled and productive human resources would accelerate the country's development.

He stressed the importance of employment-oriented education, technological training, healthcare and job opportunities to utilise the country's demographic potential and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

He said the government was providing training in agriculture, handicrafts, technical education, freelancing and artificial intelligence through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Department of Youth Development.

He also urged young people to work against drug addiction, environmental degradation, violence against women and children, and other social problems.

The President called on public and private stakeholders to ensure dignified employment and a brighter future for the youth.
