The Retired Armed Forces Officers' Welfare Association (RAOWA) has called for the truth to be uncovered into the death of Former Bangladesh Air Force flight lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri whose body was recovered recently.
RAOWA leaders visited Tahsif's family on Saturday at his residence in the ‘Korobi’ building of the RAJUK Apartment Project in Sector 18 of Uttara.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, RAOWA Joint Secretary retired Lieutenant Colonel Abu Nawroz Khurshid Alam said that they had gone to express their condolences to the bereaved family. They also spoke to family members to find out whether they needed any assistance regarding the incident.
Referring to his conversation with Tahsif's father KM Enayetul Karim, he said that they had asked what steps could be taken and how they could help.
"He informed us that various law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident. They are examining eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage at the scene," he said.
Describing Tahsif's death as distressing for retired armed forces officers, the former army officer expressed hope that investigators would uncover the truth soon and take appropriate action accordingly.
"Like the people of the country, all members of the defence community hope that the truth will be uncovered as soon as possible and that law enforcement agencies will take appropriate action," he said.
He also assured the family that RAOWA would stand by them and provide all possible assistance.
Major Al Amin, another retired army officer, said that they would continue to monitor the investigation and ensure that the matter was not overlooked.
"We will not let this incident go unaddressed. We will monitor how justice is delivered and how the facts are uncovered. We want a thorough investigation and the trial of those found responsible," he said.
