KCC holds orientation for 45th BCS admin cadre trainees

KHULNA, Nov 2: An orientation programme for newly appointed trainee assistant commissioners of the 45th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) administration cadre assigned to Khulna Division was held at Shahid Altaf Auditorium of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Nagar Bhaban on Monday afternoon.

The KCC organised the programme to familiarise the newly appointed officials with the corporation’s structure, functions, administrative activities and public services. KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju addressed the programme as the chief guest.

Welcoming the officials, the administrator said the KCC is a service-oriented and development-focused institution. As an autonomous body, it played a vital role in providing development and public services to the people of Khulna city.

Highlighting the KCC’s various activities, he said waste management and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the city were among its most important responsibilities.

“The Prime Minister initially identified several priorities, including resolving water-logging, building a clean and green city, and providing services according to people’s needs. We are working tirelessly to achieve these objectives,” he said.

Addressing the trainee officials, Manju said the country belonged to everyone and called upon them to work responsibly from their respective positions to build a developed nation, moving beyond conventional practices while upholding state laws and religious principles.

He emphasised that public service should ensure that people could receive services and return home with a smile.

The administrator wished the newly appointed officials a bright future, saying good management depended primarily on courteous behaviour. 

KCC Chief Executive Officer Razib Ahmed chaired the programme. KCC Secretary Md Reza Rashid, Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Chief Revenue Officer Rahima Sultana Bushra, Budget and Accounts Officer Md Moniruzzaman, and Senior Assistant Commissioner of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office Md Abu Sayeed also spoke.

A total of 38 officials of the 45th BCS administration cadre have been assigned to Khulna Division as trainee assistant commissioners for their subsequent postings.
