The prime accused in the murder of Abdullah alias Babu has been arrested in Narsingdi, with police recovering a foreign-made pistol and eight rounds of ammunition allegedly used in the killing.

The arrested accused, Abulal, was detained during a raid in the Madhabpur area of Habiganj on Saturday by the Narsingdi District Detective Branch (DB) police.

At a press conference held at Narsingdi Model Police Station around 1:00 pm, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Md Ashikur Rahman disclosed the details.

He said police recovered a foreign-made pistol, a magazine and eight rounds of ammunition based on information provided by Abulal following his arrest.

According to police, a murder case was filed with Narsingdi Model Police Station on October 2 over Babu's killing. Abulal had been absconding since the incident.

Police conducted several operations in different areas of Narsingdi, Brahmanbaria and Dhaka to arrest him, but failed as he repeatedly changed his location.

Following instructions from Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdullah Al Faruque, the District Detective Branch and Narsingdi Model Police Station jointly conducted the operation that led to his arrest.

Police said another case has been filed under the Arms Act in connection with the recovery of the firearm and ammunition.

Abulal will be produced before a court, while operations are continuing to arrest the other fugitives involved in the case.
