Woman’s body found hanging in Bagerhat

Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from a tree in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shukuran Begum, 32, wife of Mahbub Nikari of Lakshpur Panchakhal area under the upazila.

According to sources, locals spotted the body hanging from a jamrul tree with an orna around her neck at a garden near Katakhali bus stand around 9:00 AM and informed police.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Fakirhat Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Alamgir Hossain confirmed the incident and said that the body has been sent to Bagerhat General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

The exact cause of death will be determined after receiving the autopsy report, added the OC.

Following the incident, the victim’s sister filed a murder case with Fakirhat Model Police Station against the deceased’s husband.
