Drug case convict held in Ashuganj RAB operation

A fugitive convict sentenced to three years' imprisonment in a drug case has been arrested in a joint operation by RAB-9 and RAB-14.

According to RAB, a joint team of RAB-9 CPC-1, Brahmanbaria, and RAB-14 CPC-2, Bhairab Camp, Kishoreganj, conducted a raid on July 15 at around 8:50pm near Fahad Pump on the Dhaka-bound highway at Bishwaroad intersection in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria, acting on a tip-off.

During the operation, the team arrested Shah Alam, 52, a fugitive warrant accused who was sentenced to three years' imprisonment in a case filed with Ashuganj Police Station under Section 36(1), Schedule 19(a) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. The case (No. 23) was filed on November 11, 2024.

Shah Alam, son of Kaykobad, is a resident of Sadekpur area in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district.

RAB said the arrested convict has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
