Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul has directed BCB director M Najmul Islam to provide an explanation for his controversial remarks about former captain Tamim Iqbal, describing the instruction as similar to a show-cause notice.

Bulbul made the announcement on Saturday evening while attending the jersey and trophy unveiling ceremony of ‘GNC School Cricket’ tournament at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, organized by BCB Regional Cricket Center.

Addressing the media, he said that Najmul’s comments on social media regarding Tamim Iqbal had caused concern.

“He wrote this on his personal Facebook account. We have asked him to submit a ‘rejoinder’,” Bulbul explained. “Considering Tamim’s contributions as the captain of national team, a little thought and respect should have been shown before making such remarks.”

When asked if the instruction could be considered a show-cause notice, Bulbul replied in the affirmative, adding that the matter would be discussed openly at the upcoming board meeting scheduled for January 24.

“He himself is a director. We will talk about this in detail during the board meeting,” he said.

BCB is already under multiple pressures due to decisions regarding participation in T20 World Cup. Asked if Nazmul’s unchecked comments could create further issues for the board, Bulbul avoided a direct answer, saying “no comments.”
