RUPGANJ, NARAYANGANJ, Jan 27: The Purbachal Press Club in Dhaka North City Corporation's Purbachal suburb was formally inaugurated on Monday, with a 36-member Executive Committee announced to oversee its activities.
During the event, Mohammad Rashedul Islam of Somoy TV was elected President, and Russel Mahmud of Desh TV was chosen as General Secretary.
Other key committee members include Ekushey TV's Rabiul Islam as Co-General Secretary, M.S. Dalim as Senior Vice-President, Nazmul Huda of Jagoo News 24 and Shahel Mahmud of the Daily Observer as vice-presidents, Baishakhi TV's Ataur Rahman Sani as Organising Secretary, Sohel Kiran of Bangla TV, Raju Ahmed of ATN Bangla and Anisur Rahman of Sokaler Somoy as Assistant Organising Secretary, Swapan Mia as Treasurer, Noore Alam Bhuiya Akash as Office Secretary, Mohiuddin Mia as Literary Secretary, Rizbi Ahmed Enamul as cultural secretary, Sohel Mia as assistant cultural secretary, Sohel Kabir as Social Welfare Secretary, Shawon Gazi as Publicity Secretary, Sharif Bhuiya as Sports Secretary, Sajidur Rahman as Publication Secretary, Md Hafeez Momen as Religion Secretary, Mahabubur Rahman as Assistant Religion Secretary, Nur Alam as Legal Secretary, and Mainul Islam as Health Secretary.
A senior local government official attended the inauguration. Shahidul Islam, president of the Dhaka Reporters' Unity and editor of Daily Manabkantha, was the chief guest and addressed the gathering.
The event marks a significant step in organising journalists in the Purbaachal area and creating a platform for professional collaboration, media advocacy, and community engagement in the suburb.
